November 22, 2024 – Sarnia, ON – The 2024 Hennessey Holdings Elite and U23 National Championships have officially kicked off today at the Royal SCITS Academy in Sarnia, ON, with all quarterfinal and semifinal bouts now complete. Boxing fans across Canada are eagerly anticipating the championship finals, set to take place tomorrow, Saturday, November 23, from 1-4pm and 6-10pm.

The competition, which mirrors the Olympic-style format, has showcased some of the finest boxing talent in the country, with fierce battles in both the Elite and U23 divisions. The road to the final has been paved with intensity and skill, as athletes from across Canada have left everything in the ring in pursuit of national titles.

Already, one national champion has been crowned: Kaitlyn Clarke of Destiny Boxing (ON), who successfully repeated her Gold Medal performance in the Women’s Elite 70kg division. Clarke triumphed over Jardlyn Benjamin of Ring 83(QC) in a thrilling 3:2 split decision.

The spotlight now shifts to tomorrow’s finals, where several top-seeded athletes, including former national champions and members of the national team, will compete for gold. Among the standout athletes are:

Kraig Devlin, High Performance Director of Boxing Canada, was on hand during the semi-finals and expressed his pride in the athletes’ performances. “Each athlete here is a champion in their own right – they represent the best of their club, their province, and of Canada. While only one Champion can be named for each weight class, the depth of the talent in Canada is clearly increasing. Boxing got back on Canada’s Olympic radar with Wyatt Sanford’s Bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and each athlete here dreams of podiums at the 2028 and 2032 Olympics.”

In addition to the competition, Saturday’s event will also include the induction of eight new members into Boxing Canada’s Hall of Fame, recognizing the contributions of those who have helped shape the sport in Canada.

The finals will run from 1-4pm and 6-10pm at The Royal SCITs Academy, located at 275 Wellington St, Sarnia, ON. Tickets are available for purchase at the door for $25.
