Kaitlyn Clark began boxing at 18 at Sharky’s Boxing in Sarnia, Ontario. As a child, she danced both Tap and Jazz and was always interested in ballroom dance so she watched the TV show “Dancing with the Stars”. In 2007, Laila Ali (professional boxer and daughter of Muhammad Ali) was a contestant on the show. She was captivated by her confidence, along with her poise, athletic body and her elegance on the dance floor. She quickly researched boxing and decided she too was going to be a boxer. Being only 15 years old, her parents said no and she had to wait until she was 18 to begin training. Her aspiration for the sport had never left so when she signed up at a local gym and began her pursuit to the top!
She loves that boxing tests you both physically and mentally, and it pushes you past your perceived limits while also allowing you to experience self-growth that is unparalleled in any other sport.
In 5 years, she seems herself becoming a gold medalist at the AIBA World Championships; she will accomplish this goal by gaining valuable international experience over the next few years in order to get to the upper echelon of amateur boxers and reach the top of the world podium by 2024. Once she has accomplished her goals as an athlete, she hopes to use her boxing experience coupled with her reality of being one of the only boxer in the world with Rheumatoid Arthritis, to become an advocate for athletes with autoimmune diseases and do public speaking to inspire others to chase their dreams. She also wishes to remain involved in the sport as an official.
Beside boxing, Kaitlyn has a Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Finance and a Minor in French Linguistics from Carleton University. She attended University from June 2011 and graduated in 2016 while training as a boxer.
