Spencer Wilcox comes from a family of boxers. He practically grew up with a pair of gloves on his hands; His father runs a boxing gym so it is a family tradition. He started training at the young age of four and was training two days per week until the age of 8, after which his training became more intense and had boxing practice 5 or 6 days a week.
From an early age, he knew he had talent and he is confident that one day he will be world champion. He was initially interested in t he sport because he grew up watching all of his brothers and their friends competing, which made him want to do the same and make it further than any of them had.
The part that he loves the most about the sport is the feeling of victory after winning a tournament. In comparison to team sports where victories are a team effort, you are the only reason for success when winning a boxing tournament and there is no greater feeling than knowing that you are #1 in your category.
Within the next five to 10 years, Spencer wants to become an Olympian, compete at a few editions of the World championships, Pan American Games and all other major international competitions in the hopes to bring home Gold and make my country proud. Beside boxing, Spencer graduated from high school in 2018 and is currently enrolled in Civil Engineering at Mohawk College.
