Triston Brookes started boxing when he was 18 years old. Prior to boxing, he was a long jump champion in High School, but was forced to find another sport to compete because his school didn’t want him to represent them at competitions. When he first started boxing, he fell in love with the sport right away as it was a great way to evacuate his frustration. Also, as a skinny kid, he didn’t quite fit in other sports before but he knew he would fit in boxing due to the weight class system.
Triston began as a recreational member, but within a year, he became a competitive member and stepped on the podium at his first competition, the Bronze Gloves. Through the encouragements of his Coach Tony Wallace, he started believing in himself. Winning the Canadian championships in 2017 was a turning point and Triston took the opportunity to centralize with the National Team in order to improve his craft. In the future, he wishes to become a World Champion and win a medal at the Olympic Games.
Beside his career as an athlete, Triston also attended school at Sheridan College in Advertising and Marketing, and in the long run, he would like to go back to school to pursue his education in Kinesiology. He also strives to inspire others to pursue their dreams and would like to develop Youth programs to help and inspire them.
