    Biography / Biographie

    Few individuals have left as indelible a mark on Canadian boxing—both inside the ring and beyond—as Pat Fiacco. With a career in officiating that spanned over three decades, Pat’s unwavering dedication, integrity, and leadership have helped shape the sport at every level, from grassroots tournaments to the world’s grandest sporting stages.

    Born and raised in Regina, Pat began his boxing career as a child at the Regina boxing club. His He won several provincial championships and won the 1980 Canadian Intermediate Bantamweight Championship. Building on what he learned in the ring he quickly established himself as one of Canada’s most respected and knowledgeable officials. His steady presence and professionalism led to appointments at some of the most prestigious international competitions. Testament to his elite standing in the global boxing community, Pat served as an official at two Olympic Summer Games—Athens in 2004 and London in 2012.

     

    His deep international résumé also includes officiating at two Pan American Games, including 1999 in Winnipeg; four Commonwealth Games; eight Elite World Championships; and two Youth/Junior World Championships. These assignments reflect not just longevity, but a consistent standard of excellence.

     

    His deep understanding of the sport and commitment to fairness made him a cornerstone of Canadian boxing officiating. Pat helped nurture and evaluate generations of Canadian boxing talent while officiating or directing at 20 years of Canadian Elite and Youth Championships. As chief official he passed on his experience and skill, with a particular focus on mentoring new officials and elevating integrity and safety standards across the country.

     

    Outside the ring, Fiacco’s contributions were equally impactful. He served as President of Boxing Canada from 2012 to 2020, providing visionary leadership during a time of growth and modernization for the sport in Canada. Internationally, Fiacco brought Canadian representation to the global boxing stage through his service on the AIBA Executive Committee from 2014 to 2022, helping to influence policy and governance at the highest levels of amateur boxing.

     

    A true civic-leader, Pat Fiacco also made a significant mark outside of sport, serving as Mayor of Regina from 2000 to 2012, CEO of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, and CEO of Tourism Saskatchewan, where he brought the same values of dedication, fairness, and community spirit that defined his boxing career.

    Pat Fiacco’s induction into the Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to a lifetime of service, leadership, and love for the sport of boxing. His legacy will inspire officials, athletes, and sports leaders for generations to come.

Fort de ce qu’il a appris sur le ring, il s’est rapidement imposĂ© comme l’un des officiels les plus respectĂ©s et les plus compĂ©tents du Canada. Sa prĂ©sence constante et son professionnalisme lui ont valu d’ĂȘtre nommĂ© Ă  certaines des compĂ©titions internationales les plus prestigieuses.     En dehors du ring, les contributions de Pat Fiacco ont Ă©tĂ© tout aussi importantes. Il a Ă©tĂ© prĂ©sident de Boxing Canada de 2012 Ă  2020, faisant preuve d’un leadership visionnaire pendant une pĂ©riode de croissance et de modernisation de ce sport au Canada.
