Canadian Boxer Junior Petanqui Triumphs Over Shain Boniface from Seychelles at World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand – May 26, 2024 – In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Canadian national team athlete Junior Petanqui (Club Pound4Pound, QC) emerged victorious over his opponent Shain Boniface from Seychelles in the -71 KG weight division at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament. The event took place at the Haumark Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 26, 2024.

 

Junior Petanqui showcased exceptional prowess and strategy throughout the match, earning a decisive 5:0 decision by the judges. His strategic maneuvering and precise execution left spectators in awe as he dominated the ring against his formidable opponent.

 

Coach Samir said that “Junior fought very good and gave us a great performance for his first bout. His jab couldn’t miss all fight. He used his range, his experience and out classed his opponent winning unanimously.”

 

Asked about how the training camp has prepared him for this first bout, “The training camp was really demanding, we were training in a weather that we have never experienced before, but we were always pushing hard. We had high-quality sparring to get us ready for the competition.” said Junior Petanqui. “I’m very satisfied with the results of my bout, getting 5:0.” When asked about his next bout against his opponent from Armenia scheduled for May 28th, Junior shared “I know that he has seen me boxing in this first bout. However, it’s only the first one and we are taking it one at a time. When he will be in the ring with me it will be different from what he has seen.”
