Boxing Canada Captures Ten Medals at the 2026 Pan American Boxing Championships
PUEBLA, Mexico (October 24, 2026) — Boxing Canada concluded a historic campaign today at the Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo in Puebla, capturing ten total medals—including four continental titles, four silver, and two bronze—at the 2026 Pan American Boxing Confederation (AMBC) Continental Championships.
“Ten medals, including four gold, four silver and two bronze, is a strong showing for Canada,” said Vincent Auclair, Head Coach of Boxing Canada. “After a year travelling the world on the World Cup circuit, we saw our fighters progress and peak at exactly the right moment. I’m proud of the strong competitive performances from all of our athletes, whether or not they stepped onto the podium. This result reflects the work of the entire team.”
“The success of our athletes is not a surprise,” added Christopher Lindsay, Executive Director of Boxing Canada. “They work incredibly hard and are never satisfied with their performances. Luckily we have world class coaches to help shape that intensity and help them achieve personal goals every time they get in the ring.”
“Our athletes impressed this week, playing with poise and putting their skills on full display,” noted National Team Coach Ariane Fortin. “Their performances confirm that our elite group is developing right on schedule.”
Winnipeg’s Isaiah Rock (Manitoba – Power Boxing Club), Brampton’s Parminder Pannu (Ontario – King of the Ring), Montreal’s Tammara Thibeault (Quebec – Steel City), and Southwold’s Kiona Green (Ontario – Sovereign Boxing) claimed gold medals for the national team. Maxime Lessard (Quebec – Sherbrooke Boxing Club), Rachel Bourdon (Quebec – BoxMTL), Gabriel Labrie (Quebec – Pound4Pound), and Joshua Ofori (Alberta – Marshal Boxing Club) secured hard-fought silver medals following tightly contested finals. Scarlet Delgado (Ontario – Destiny Boxing Club) and Bryan Colwell (British Columbia – Island Boxing Club) rounded out the Canadian podium placements by taking home bronze medals.
Canadian Gold Medal Performances
Winnipeg southpaw Isaiah Rock (Manitoba – Power Boxing Club) earned Canada’s first gold of the session with a masterclass against home-nation hopeful Pedro Guerrero of Mexico in the Men’s 50 kg final. Rock established range early behind a razor-sharp jab and swept the judges’ cards in every round to take a 5-0 unanimous decision (30–27 on all five cards).
In the Men’s 75 kg final, former junior national team captain Parminder Pannu (Ontario – King of the Ring) delivered Canada’s second gold medal with a poised unanimous decision victory over Ecuador’s Giancarlo Anchico. Pannu controlled the distance and won 30-27 on two cards and 29-28 on the remaining three.
Professional middleweight champion and 2022 amateur world champion Tammara Thibeault (Quebec – Steel City) added to the gold tally in the Women’s 75 kg division against Venezuela’s Maryelis Yriza. Utilizing her significant height and reach advantage to command the center of the ring, Thibeault secured the continental title with a split decision victory.
Capping off the championship victories in the Women’s 80+ kg division, 2025 Canadian elite national champion Kiona Green (Ontario – Sovereign Boxing) dominated Kamara Stuart of Barbados. Green demonstrated superior technical ability, landing powerful right hands that forced two standing counts in the second round before the referee stepped in to stop the bout.
Silver and Bronze Medal Finishes
Opening the championship round for Canada, reigning national champion Rachel Bourdon (Quebec – BoxMTL) captured silver following a gritty three-round clash with Argentina’s Lucia Muello in the Women’s 65 kg final. Bourdon pressed the action as the aggressor, but Muello’s elusive counter-punching earned the Argentine a unanimous points victory.
Maxime Lessard (Quebec – Sherbrooke Boxing Club) of Sept-ÃŽles, Quebec, stepped into the ring for the Women’s 48 kg final against Mexican Olympian Fatima Herrera. Fighting in front of a supportive home crowd, Herrera used superior punch volume to force a standing count in the opening round, leaving Lessard with a resilient silver medal finish following a wide decision.
Competing in the Men’s 65 kg final, Quebec southpaw Gabriel Labrie (Quebec – Pound4Pound) faced off against Brazilian World Championship silver medalist Yuri Falcao. Labrie showcased his speed and consistently worked behind his southpaw jab, remaining defensively responsible while searching for counter-punching opportunities. Despite a neat and tactical effort, Labrie struggled to find his range against the highly elusive Brazilian, ultimately taking home a hard-fought silver medal following a 30-27 unanimous decision.
In a highly competitive Men’s 80 kg final, Joshua Ofori (Alberta – Marshal Boxing Club) battled Noel Pacheco of the Dominican Republic. Ofori showcased excellent technical skills and body work to level the judges’ scorecards heading into the final round, where Pacheco ultimately edged out a 3-2 split decision.
National team veterans Scarlet Delgado (Ontario – Destiny Boxing Club) and Bryan Colwell (British Columbia – Island Boxing Club) each delivered strong tournament campaigns, securing bronze medals in the Women’s 54 kg and Men’s 92 kg divisions, respectively, to bring Canada’s total medal count to double digits.
