2019 Men’s World Championships: the draw results are in

Regrouping 365 boxers from 78 countries, the 2019 AIBA Men’s World Championships are set to kick off in Ekaterinburg, Russia. With less than one year to go before Tokyo 2020, it will be the first major championships featuring the 8 Men’s Olympic weight categories that are presented at the Olympic Games.

With 3 boxers representing Canada on the world stage, here’s an overview of their draw results for the Championships:

 

  • 57 kg : Eric Basran will be the first Canadian to step into the ring on September 11th against Erik Petrosyan from Armenia.

 

  • 63 kg : Thomas Blumenfeld will square off against Michael McDonagh from Wales on September 12th.

 

  • 69 kg : Wyatt Sanford will make his debut on September 13th against Nicolae Bucsa from Moldova.
