Montreal July 15, 2025 – Boxing Canada Announces 2024 and 2025 Elite National Championships

Boxing Canada is pleased to announce the upcoming dates and hosts for the 2024 and 2025 Elite national championships:

• November 19-23, 2024 Bluewater Boxing Club, in partnership with the Sarnia-Lambton Tourism Board, Boxing Ontario, and Boxing Canada, will host the 2024 Elite and U23 National Championships.

• November 26-30, 2025 Boxing Manitoba, in partnership with Tourism Winnipeg, and Boxing Canada, will host the 2025 Elite National Championships.

“Boxing Canada is looking to build on the success of the 2024 Junior and Youth Nationals hosted at the 2024 Canada Cup in Calgary. The partnered hosting model, and a plan to move our National Championships around the country, supports developing strong Olympic Style boxing culture” says Christopher Lindsay, Executive Director. Clubs, Provinces, and Boxing Promoters who are interested in hosting a future nationally sanctioned event are encouraged to contact Boxing Canada or visit the Hosting section of BoxingCanada.org.

The National Championships are a key part of the athlete development system. Kraig Devlin, High Performance Director, reinforces the importance of the event: “Nationals represents an opportunity, particularly just following an Olympics, to reset the National Team. Strong performances at Nationals are a key opportunity for athletes to demonstrate that they are ready for the intensity and commitment needed to go to the international level”.

Boxing Canada’s President Ryan O’Shea is looking forward to getting the annual rhythm back on track after the pandemic. “The disruption to our clubs and provinces was greater than anyone expected. Now we have an expectation that critical nationally sanctioned competitions must be planned well in advance so athletes, coaches, and officials can develop themselves with clear long-term goals in mind.”

Announcement of the 2025 Junior, Youth, and U23 National Championships was expected at the same time as the Elite Championships, but Boxing Canada is taking a little longer with that selection to ensure the best possible plan is in place. Expect to see an announcement about the Junior/Youth/U23 before the end of the summer.
