Boxing Canada mourns the passing of Phil Boudreault, a proud Canadian Olympian whose dedication, skill, and sportsmanship left a lasting impact on our boxing community.

Phil represented Canada at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, competing in the light-welterweight (63.5 kg) division. Reaching the Olympic Games is a remarkable achievement, earned through years of discipline, sacrifice, and commitment to excellence — qualities Phil embodied throughout his Olympic Boxing career.

At Atlanta 1996, Phil opened his Olympic campaign with a victory over Haji Ali Hadj Matumla of Tanzania, advancing to the Round of 16. He then faced Eduard Zakharov of Russia in a closely contested bout, concluding his Olympic journey tied for ninth place overall. His performance reflected determination, composure, and the ability to compete at the highest level of international boxing.

Phil Boudreault’s legacy will be remembered in our sport, not only for his Olympic accomplishments, but also for his integrity and commitment. Boxing allowed Phil to channel his boundless energy into positive outcomes.
