Boxing Canada Announces 2025 Hall of Fame Inductees: Ryan Savage and Roland Labbe Induction Ceremony to Take Place During the 2025 Elite National Championships

Boxing Canada is proud to announce the induction of Ryan Savage and Roland Labbe into the Boxing Canada Hall of Fame. Both leaders will be formally honoured at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, during the 2025 Elite National Championships at the Sport Manitoba Building. Their induction follows the earlier 2025 Hall of Fame recognitions of Pat Fiacco, Russ Anber, Benoit Gauthier, Mark Simmons, Jean François, and Jean Pascal, marking one of the most significant collective acknowledgment years in Boxing Canada’s history.

Ryan Savage
A three-time Canadian national champion and longtime member of the National Boxing Team, Ryan Savage competed in more than 160 bouts, including over 40 international matches across major global events such as the Olympic Qualifier, World Championships, Francophone Games, and Commonwealth Games.
After retiring from competition, Savage became a Level 3 NCCP coach and founded United Boxing Club in Winnipeg, promoting an innovative “pay-it-forward” community model. His leadership extended nationally, serving as Vice-President and later President of Boxing Canada, where he championed governance modernization, safe sport reforms, and athlete-centered high-performance structures.

Roland Labbe
Internationally recognized as one of Canada’s top referees and judges, Roland Labbe has officiated at major world events, including the 2012 Olympic Games. His commitment to integrity and fairness helped elevate the standard of Canadian officiating.
Labbe also contributed significantly to Boxing Canada’s referee and judge development pathway through a decade of service on the national commission. At the community level, he founded Avenue Boxing Club in Edmonton, using the sport as a vehicle for youth engagement. He later served as Vice-President on Boxing Canada’s Board of Directors, helping guide the organization with a focus on ethical sport and high-performance excellence.

“Roland and Ryan represent the very best of Canadian boxing,” said President of Boxing Canada, Ryan O’Shea. “Their dedication, leadership, and lifelong commitment to the sport have strengthened Canadian boxing from grassroots to the international stage. Combined with the inductions of Pat Fiacco, Russ Anber, Benoit Gauthier, Mark Simmons, Jean François, and Jean Pascal earlier this year, 2025 stands as a landmark year for recognizing excellence in our sport.”

The celebration of their induction will include the participation of Canada’s premier athletes at the 2025 Elite National Championships,  hosted in Winnipeg at the Sport Manitoba Building. Competition begins Wednesday, November 26th, and finishes with the induction ceremony on Saturday, the 29th. Sessions begin at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets are available online through Boxing Canada or at the door for $20 per session per person, or $50 for the entire competition. Session passes for Saturday include the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Livestream available at www.watchfights.ca

Boxing Canada est fière d’annoncer l’intronisation de Ryan Savage et Roland Labbe au panthéon de Boxing Canada. Les deux leaders seront officiellement honorés à 15 h le samedi 29 novembre, lors des Championnats nationaux élite 2025 au Sport Manitoba Building. Leur intronisation fait suite à celle, plus tôt en 2025, du panthéon de Pat Fiacco, Russ Anber, Benoit Gauthier, Mark Simmons, Jean François et Jean Pascal, marquant ainsi l’une des années les plus importantes de l’histoire de Boxing Canada en termes de reconnaissance collective.

Ryan Savage

Triple champion national canadien et membre de longue date de l’équipe nationale de boxe, Ryan Savage a disputé plus de 160 combats, dont plus de 40 matchs internationaux lors d’événements mondiaux majeurs tels que les qualifications olympiques, les championnats du monde, les Jeux de la Francophonie et les Jeux du Commonwealth.

Après avoir pris sa retraite de la compétition, Savage est devenu entraîneur de niveau 3 du PNCE et a fondé le United Boxing Club à Winnipeg, promouvant un modèle communautaire innovant de « pay-it-forward » (donner au suivant). Son leadership s’est étendu à l’échelle nationale, puisqu’il a occupé le poste de vice-président, puis de président de Boxing Canada, où il s’est fait le champion de la modernisation de la gouvernance, des réformes en matière de sécurité dans le sport et des structures de haute performance centrées sur les athlètes.

Roland Labbe

Reconnu internationalement comme l’un des meilleurs arbitres et juges du Canada, Roland Labbe a officié lors de grands événements mondiaux, notamment les Jeux olympiques de 2012. Son engagement en faveur de l’intégrité et de l’équité a contribué à élever le niveau de l’arbitrage canadien.

Labbe a également contribué de manière significative au parcours de formation des arbitres et des juges de Boxing Canada grâce à une décennie de service au sein de la commission nationale. Au niveau communautaire, il a fondé l’Avenue Boxing Club à Edmonton, utilisant le sport comme moyen d’engagement des jeunes. Il a ensuite occupé le poste de vice-président du conseil d’administration de Boxing Canada, aidant à orienter l’organisation vers l’éthique sportive et l’excellence de haut niveau.

« Roland et Ryan représentent ce qu’il y a de mieux dans la boxe canadienne », a déclaré le président de Boxing Canada, Ryan O’Shea. « Leur dévouement, leur leadership et leur engagement de toute une vie envers ce sport ont renforcé la boxe canadienne, tant au niveau local qu’international. Combiné aux intronisations de Pat Fiacco, Russ Anber, Benoit Gauthier, Mark Simmons, Jean François et Jean Pascal plus tôt cette année, 2025 s’annonce comme une année marquante pour la reconnaissance de l’excellence dans notre sport. »

La célébration de leur intronisation comprendra la participation des meilleurs athlètes canadiens aux Championnats nationaux élite 2025 organisés à Winnipeg, au Sport Manitoba Building. La compétition débutera le mercredi 26 novembre et se terminera par la cérémonie d’intronisation le samedi 29. Les sessions commenceront à 11 h et 17 h. Les billets sont disponibles en ligne sur le site de Boxing Canada ou à l’entrée au prix de 20 $ par session et par personne, ou 50 $ pour l’ensemble de la compétition.
