Boxing Canada Statement on the Tragic Passing of Robert Boyko

Boxing Canada expresses its profound sadness at the passing of member and passionate boxer Robert Boyko following a medical emergency during a sanctioned event held in Winnipeg on the evening of September 27th.

The entire boxing community extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and club mates of the deceased during this challenging time.

Robert joined United boxing club looking to make a change in his life. In an instagram post just a few weeks before this weekend’s event Robert described how he used boxing as a pathway to fitness and better health. He held immense pride in his efforts to regain the physical fitness he believed had diminished over the years. His willingness to share his personal story, and raise funds to assist others, distinguishes him as a remarkable member of our community and a role model for each of us.

Boxing Canada is immensely proud to have Robert as a member of our family. His passing was sudden, unexpected, and shocking – particularly to his family, club mates, and many friends at the show. Boxing Canada is reaching out to those in our community who knew Robert who need help processing their grief and emotions.
