Boxing Canada’s measures and recommendations due to exceptional circumstances of COVID-19

March 12, 2020. The collective health and well-being of athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, volunteers as well as friends and family being our top priority, Boxing Canada announces the following measures for the safety of all members:

  • The suspension of the 2020 Canadian Championships, which is set to take place May 12-17 in Montreal, until more information is provided by the Health authorities concerning the preventive measures in place;

  • No travel permits will be approved for the time being;

Additionally, Boxing Canada recommends that all provincial associations and boxing clubs suspend or postpone all unnecessary activities and gatherings.

In regards to sparring, we recommend that you ask if your training partners and teams have travelled outside Canada in the last 14 days. If such is the case, we recommend these sparring sessions do not take place as a precaution.

Boxing Canada will continue to monitor the situation and consult with Health authorities to determine the best course of action. We will make new announcements depending on the circumstances and evolution of the situation during the next hours and/or days.
