Building Momentum on the World Stage

Canada’s performance reflects the team’s continued growth and competitiveness on the international stage. With multiple athletes advancing deep into their brackets and three reaching the podium, the results highlight both depth and emerging talent across the program.

The team benefited from a two-week pre-competition training camp in Brazil, which played a key role in acclimatization and confidence heading into the tournament.

Leadership & Staff

The team was led by coaches Vincent Auclair, Ariane Fortin, and team physiotherapist Hugo Lettre, whose leadership and support were instrumental in preparing athletes for elite international competition.

Head Coach Vincent Auclair sees tremendous opportunities ahead. “The season is still just unfolding. While the successes we’ve had in Spain and Brazil have been great – all our focus is on the steady pathway to the Olympics in 2028 and 2032.”

Coach Ariane Fortin, herself a former World Champion and Multi-medalist, notes that the pressure of international competition isn’t a significant load. “The boxers are performing well and taking advantage of every opportunity. The team is quite young and are eager to test themselves. Win or lose they are learning and becoming better every bout.”

Looking Ahead

With momentum from Brazil, Team Canada now turns its attention to a busy international schedule.

The next stop on the World Boxing Cup circuit will take place in Guiyang City, China from June 15–20, 2026. Beyond the World Cup series, Canadian athletes will be targeting strong performances at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland (July 23 – August 2, 2026), with boxing competition running from July 24 to August 1.

And then the team will prepare for the Pan American Boxing Championships, taking place in Pueblo, Mexico from October 10–17, 2026. This key tournament will bring together the top athletes from across the Americas and serve as another major opportunity for Canadian boxers to test themselves against elite competition. It will also be a perfect dress rehearsal for the very important Continental Olympic Qualifier that will be scheduled for mid-2027. At that event the top two athletes in each Olympic Weight class will get a ticket straight to the 2028 Olympic Games in LA.
