Cedrick Belony-Duliepre Debuts in Olympic Boxing Match

Montreal, Quebec, July 31st, 2024 – Boxing Canada member Cedrick Belony-Duliepre, representing Haiti at Paris 2024, made his highly anticipated debut in the Olympic boxing ring against Brazilian opponent Wanderley de Souza Pereira. Despite a valiant effort, Cedrick lost his opening bout by unanimous decision.

Cedrick reflected on his experience with great positivity, sharing, “I’ve been working 10 years to get here at the Olympics and to get my feet in the Olympic ring was incredible. What I’ve learned is to never give up and keep persevering. To all people in Montreal supporting me, thank you for supporting me and we will see each other soon. You will see me soon again in the ring, but as a professional boxer.”

His coach Laszlo Marien shared: ”I must say that I am very proud of Cedrick’s accomplishments in the last year. He left it all in the ring against a very skilled favourite for the gold medal. We are extremely grateful for the support of HaΓ―ti boxe and of boxing Canada throughout this Olympic venue. Cedrick now plans to represent Canada and HaΓ―ti on the professionnel stage.”

The journey to the Olympics is a testament to Cedrick’s dedication and resilience. His tenacity and spirit have inspired many, and the support he gets from Montreal and Haiti eagerly anticipate his next steps in the professional boxing world.
