The King’s Baton Relay is a Commonwealth Games tradition that celebrates, embraces and connects communities across the Commonwealth, as the countdown to the Commonwealth Games. The Commonwealth Sport King’s Baton Relay for Glasgow 2026 was launched on March 10, 2025, at Buckingham Palace. It’s currently on an epic journey across the world, with Batons visiting all 74 nations and territories of the Commonwealth, reaching the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Americas, Oceania, and Europe before heading to the Glasgow (Scotland) 2026 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremonies on July 23, 2026.
Canada will host the Baton May 2-7, 2026.
The Baton is a powerful symbol – carrying the spirit, values and pride of the Commonwealth as it travels across Canada. This is a unique opportunity for Canadian artists to create a work of art that embodies Canada’s story – celebrating our heritage and collective aspirations as a country and reflecting the themes of inclusion, sustainability reconciliation and the power of sport that guides CSC’s mission.
