Boxing Canada is a membership-driven, athlete-centric national governing body for Olympic-style boxing in Canada. It is responsible for developing and supporting Canadian athletes, coaches and officials toward success at World Championships, Pan American Games, Olympic Games, other international competitions, and achieving the personal goals of our individual participants..

Boxing Canada’s High Performance Program is entering an exciting period of growth and renewal, including the development of a strengthened National Training Centre environment in Montreal and an enhanced approach to National Team programming, athlete engagement and digital storytelling.

Position Overview

The High Performance Coordinator is a key role within Boxing Canada’s High Performance team and will provide hands-on operational, logistical and communications support to the National Team programs.

The Social Media Specialist is a new role within Boxing Canada and will build on the organization’s first steps into modern communications and storytelling with a particular focus on supporting our National Team programs.

Working closely with the High Performance Director, National Team coaches, athletes and Boxing Canada staff, the Coordinator will help ensure that athletes and coaches have the resources, information and support required to train, travel, and compete successfully.

The position will have particular responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of the Montreal-based National Training Centre, the planning and delivery of National Team tours and camps, athlete communication and feedback, equipment and uniform management, and financial and administrative tracking of High Performance activities.

The position will also play an important role in delivering Boxing Canada’s refreshed High Performance communications strategy. This will include creating and publishing regular social media content, coordinating weekly YouTube livestreams and producing/editing High Performance meetings and other digital content.

This is an ideal position for an organized, energetic and adaptable professional who enjoys working directly with athletes and coaches, can manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and is comfortable moving between logistics, administration, communications and hands-on problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

1. National Training Centre Operations

Support the effective day-to-day operation of Boxing Canada’s Montreal-based National Training Centre, including:

  • Provide direct operational support to National Team athletes and coaches based at the National Training Centre.
  • Coordinate training schedules, facility requirements, meetings and other day-to-day activities as required.
  • Serve as an accessible point of contact for athletes regarding National Team program logistics and services.
  • Help ensure athletes have the information, equipment and resources required to participate fully in the National Team program.
  • Coordinate with Boxing Canada staff, coaches, facility partners and external service providers to resolve operational issues.
  • Support the integration of Integrated Support Team (IST) services and other athlete-support resources.
  • Assist with National Team meetings, briefings, testing, evaluations and other program activities.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation related to National Training Centre activities.

 

2. National Team Tours, Camps and Competitions

Coordinate the logistical and administrative delivery of National Team projects, including domestic and international training camps, tours and competitions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate travel arrangements, accommodation, ground transportation, training facilities and other tour logistics.
  • Develop detailed tour itineraries and operational plans.
  • Coordinate athlete and staff travel information and documentation.
  • Assist with accreditation, entries, visas, insurance and other competition requirements.
  • Coordinate training camp and competition logistics with host organizations and international partners.
  • Prepare tour budgets in consultation with the High Performance Director and appropriate coaches.
  • Track project expenditures and reconcile expenses against approved budgets.
  • Process and organize invoices, receipts, expense reports and other financial documentation.
  • Conduct post-tour reviews and identify opportunities to improve future National Team projects.
  • Travel with National Teams may be required to provide on-site operational support.

 

3. Athlete Services and Engagement

Develop strong working relationships with National Team athletes and ensure that athlete needs and feedback are effectively communicated within the High Performance Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain regular communication with National Team athletes.
  • Develop and maintain an athlete onboarding and offboarding process.
  • Collect athlete feedback regarding training, travel, equipment, camps, competitions and other aspects of the National Team experience.
  • Develop and administer athlete surveys and feedback mechanisms.
  • Identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement and bring them forward to the High Performance Director.
  • Assist athletes in navigating National Team procedures, schedules, travel requirements and program information.
  • Support effective communication between athletes, coaches, Boxing Canada staff and other stakeholders.
  • Help foster an athlete-centred, professional and positive National Team environment.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality when handling athlete information and concerns.

 

4. National Team Equipment and Uniforms

Coordinate the procurement, distribution and management of National Team equipment and apparel.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate National Team uniform and apparel orders.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of uniforms, training apparel and other National Team equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment requirements with coaches and athletes.
  • Research and source equipment and supplies as required.
  • Coordinate distribution and collection of equipment and uniforms for National Team projects.
  • Maintain relationships with equipment and apparel suppliers.
  • Monitor equipment needs and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost management.
  • Ensure equipment and apparel requirements are incorporated into tour and annual program budgets.

 

5. High Performance Administration and Financial Management

Provide administrative support to ensure that High Performance programs are organized, accountable and delivered within approved resources.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the preparation of annual High Performance budgets and project-specific budgets.
  • Maintain accurate financial tracking for National Team projects.
  • Monitor expenditures against approved budgets and flag variances.
  • Prepare financial and administrative reports as required.
  • Maintain organized National Team records, documents and databases.
  • Support the preparation of National Team schedules, calendars, reports and briefing materials.
  • Assist with athlete and staff documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Support the High Performance Director with special projects and other administrative priorities.

 

6. High Performance Communications and Digital Content

Execute Boxing Canada’s refreshed High Performance social media and digital communications strategy in collaboration with the High Performance and Communications teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and publish daily Instagram content highlighting National Team athletes, coaches, training, competitions and the National Training Centre.
  • Coordinate and produce weekly YouTube livestreams featuring National Team programming and activities.
  • Produce, record and edit High Performance meetings for internal and/or external distribution.
  • Capture photo and video content from training sessions, camps, tours and competitions.
  • Edit short-form video content for Instagram and other digital platforms.
  • Develop content calendars and ensure consistent delivery of planned HP communications.
  • Identify opportunities to tell athlete and coach stories and showcase the work of the High Performance Program.
  • Coordinate with athletes and coaches to obtain appropriate content and permissions.
  • Ensure digital content is professional, engaging and consistent with Boxing Canada’s brand and communications standards.
  • Monitor basic engagement metrics and provide feedback on content performance.
  • Support live and recorded digital communications during major National Team projects.
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable working with Instagram, YouTube and video/photo editing tools and should have a strong understanding of contemporary social media content.

 

7. National Team Projects and Events

  • Support the planning and execution of National Team events, camps, meetings and activities.
  • Assist with National Team selection events and other Boxing Canada competitions as required.
  • Coordinate operational requirements with venues, hotels, transportation providers, suppliers and other partners.
  • Assist with National Team ceremonies, presentations and media activities.
  • Support Boxing Canada initiatives involving the Canadian Olympic Committee, Sport Canada, Own the Podium and other High Performance partners as required.

 

8. Safe Sport and Organizational Compliance

  • Support Boxing Canada’s commitment to providing a safe, inclusive and athlete-centred environment.
  • Ensure National Team activities are conducted in accordance with Boxing Canada policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Boxing Canada’s full compliance with the Canadian Safe Sport Program and the Canadian Anti Doping Program.
  • Maintain required training and certifications.
  • Support the collection and maintenance of required athlete and staff documentation.
  • Escalate concerns appropriately in accordance with Boxing Canada policies.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating travel, events, projects or logistics.

  • Written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.

 

Assets

  • Experience working within a Canadian National Sport Organization or other high performance sport environment.
  • Experience working directly with National Team athletes and coaches.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Sport System, including Sport Canada, Sport Integrity Canada, Own the Podium, Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, and Canadian Sport Centres.
  • Experience with Olympic sport.
  • Experience with athlete management or registration systems.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial tracking.
  • Experience with photography and videography.
  • Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar platforms.
  • Experience managing Instagram, YouTube and other social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of Safe Sport principles and requirements.

Working Conditions

The High Performance Coordinator will primarily work from Boxing Canada’s National Training Centre environment in Montreal, Quebec, with some flexibility required to support National Team activities.

The position will require:

  • Regular interaction with athletes, coaches and High Performance staff.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Domestic and international travel associated with National Team camps, tours and competitions.
  • Flexibility during major competitions and National Team projects.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change quickly.

 

What Does Success Look Like?

Goals for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Robust athlete feedback system for all camps, tours, and national-level competitions.
  • Creation of an auditable system for onboarding and offboarding athletes that includes all administrative, education, and policy obligations.
  • Inventory of National Team uniforms available for use and customization for specific athletes/events.
  • A process for sharing travel information such as hotel bookings and flight itineraries with athletes, staff.
  • Daily social media content, some of which is pre-planned and some produced in near-real-time.
  • An increase in social media subscribers.
  • Production of a communications styleguide.
