Nominations requested for Interim Athlete Director Board Positions

Athlete Director positions:

At the 2025 AGM the members approved bylaw changes that created an additional two Board roles, one for a women’s Athlete Director role and the other for a men’s Athlete Director role.

The goal of these full Board positions is to ensure that the voice of the registered participants holding CS, CJ, C1, C2, C3, and RM membership is represented at the board level on strategic matters.

The approved bylaw changes call for election of the Athlete Directors at the next AGM. The requirements for the approved position include, but are not limited to:

  • Being a former national team athlete;

  • Having direct experience or understanding of Boxing Canada’s High Performance Program(s);

  • Demonstrating an understanding of governance and the role of a director;

  • Committing to the responsibilities and obligations of Board membership, including participation in meetings and committees as required.

In addition the Sport Canada Governance Code states that:
  • For the purposes of this section, the term “athlete” means a person currently on a national team or competing at the international level or a person who is retired and was a member of a national team or competed at the international level, not more than eight years previously.
The Board of Directors would like to fill the roles on an interim basis before the 2026 AGM. The Board has the power to appoint additional board members for up to a year term under our existing bylaws. Nominations for Interim Athlete Directors (one female, one male) will be opened shortly.
If you have any nominations for the interim role please send them to [email protected].
One of the projects assigned to the Athlete Directors will be determining the exact process for the election of future Athlete Directors.
