Tammara Thibeault Competes in the 75 kg Weight Division at the Paris Olympics
Paris, France, July 31 2024 β Tammara Thibeault, representing Canada, competed in the 75 kg weight division at the Olympic Games in Paris. In the evening session on July 31st, Thibeault faced Cindy Winner Djankeu Ngamba of the Refugee Olympic Team. Despite a strong start, Thibeault was narrowly defeated with a final score of 3-2.
Thibeault demonstrated dominance in the first round, showcasing her skills. However, during the second round, she faced increasing challenges and was unable to make the necessary adjustments in the third round, ultimately conceding the bout to her opponent.
Reflecting on the match, and asked if she was putting herself under pressure, Thibeault commented, “No, I stayed focused on my process, and I did what I could do. Today it did not work out, but that can happen and that’s what sports are. I just need to catch my breath and I’ll be ready to go again.”
Coach Vincent Auclair added, “We secured the first round and the second round was closer as the intensity grew during the fight. Cindy landed cleaner shots in the third round. It was a very close bout. Tammara gave it her all, we knew that her opponent presented a great challenge.”
Thibeault’s performance in Paris reflects her dedication and resilience, and she remains a formidable competitor in the boxing world. Her supporters in Canada look forward to her future matches and continued success. The team is confident that Tammara will grow stronger from this loss and hone her skillset.
Focus is now on Wyatt Sanford who faces his second bout of the tournament Aug 1st at 12:52pm ET vs Ruslan Abdullaev UZB.
