Two international training camps coming up for Team Canada

In the upcoming weeks, Team Canada will sending Elite National Team boxers to participate in two international training camps. These international experiences are crucial in the development of our boxers in preparation for world-caliber competitions. "These training camps will allow us to keep gaining the international experience we need to prepare for the 2018 Women’s World Championships. It will allows us to work with different styles and athletes that we wouldn’t available to us in Canada," states 2017 Continental Gold medallist Tammara Thibeaut. "We are very fortunate to have a program that allows us to develop to our full potential because we have a very talented team and this is exactly what we need to perform on the international stage!"

 

The first training camp on the agenda will take place in Puerto Rico from June 21st until July 1st, where Team Canada will have the opportunity to train and spar with Puerto Rico's National Team over the course of a 10-day camp:

For the second training camp, an all-female team will participate in a sparring camp in Totana, Spain. Many countries will travel for this camp, which the perfect occasion for these female boxers to step into the ring against various styles of boxing and fine-tune their preparation ahead of the World Championships:

In the meantime, three Canadian boxers (60 Kg Lucas Bahdi, 81 Kg Harley-David O'Reilly and 91+Kg Alexis Barrière) are taking part in the Chemistry Worldcup of Olympic boxing taking place June 19 - 24 in Germany. Be sure to follow the progress  of our boxers as they will be facing some of the toughest boxing nations!
