Updates to Abuse-Free Sport

Boxing Canada’s commitment to providing a safe and participant-centred environment continues to evolve as the understanding of Safe Sport changes in Canada and the world.

The Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner has provided a new national, multi-sport platform for sport participants (athletes, coaches, officials, and leaders) to pledge their support to Canada’s Abuse-Free Sport initiative.

All Boxing Canada participants who are participating in National-level programs or activities are asked to update the pledge they made last season by using the new platform. For participants who are involved in multiple sports, the new platform will recognize cross-sport participation. The following participants must sign the pledge to participate in Boxing Canada Programming:

  • NSO Board of Directors
  • NSO Committee Members
  • NSO Staff, Contractors
  • National Team Athletes (Senior, Development, U19)
  • Level 4 or higher officials
  • Any officials participating at a Nationally Sanctioned event
  • Any coaches participating at a Nationally Sanctioned event
  • Any athletes participating at a Nationally Sanctioned event

In lieu of a written declaration, there is now a 15 minute video covering the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport. After reviewing the video participants can electronically sign the pledge.
