Youth National Team Ready to Compete at U19 World Championships in Colorado
Colorado, October 25, 2024 – Canada’s youth national boxing team is set to showcase their skills and dedication at the U19 World Championships in Colorado, beginning October 26, 2024.
Six young Canadian athletes will compete against top talent from around the globe, with hopes of earning medals and making their mark on the international stage. Draws and First Bouts: The competition kicks off with Randy Polines (50kg) opening the show for Team Canada against Hans Harris Bin Mohamad Yusran of Singapore on October 26. The Canadian lineup for the first rounds is as follows:
- 48kg Zoe Courchesne (48kg, QC, Crew Boxe+Fitness) – Faces the winner of Chiranan Dapphonhan (THA) / Ruby White (ENG) on October 29.
- 51kg Jade Delgado (ON, Beaver Boxing Club) – Competes against Germany’s Assia El Fachtali on October 27.
- 54kg Victoria Vergos (ON, Oakville Boxing Academy) – Awaits the winner of Tara Vogels (NED) / Supriya Devi Thokchom (IND) for an October 28 bout.
- 75kg Jarelyn Castillo (75kg, ON, Border City Boxing Club) – Takes on Leriko Simon from Germany on October 29.
- 50kg Randy Polines (AB, Olympia Boxing Club Chestermere) – Meets Singapore’s Hans Harris Bin Mohamad Yusran on October 26.
- 55kg Julian Agelakis (BC, Nelson Boxing Club) – Faces Jerome Lopez from the Philippines on October 27.
These athletes have dedicated months to rigorous training and preparation, representing the strength and talent of Canada’s youth boxing program. As they enter the ring, each athlete aims to demonstrate the skill, resilience, and sportsmanship that Canadian boxing is known for.
