World Boxing Officials Pathway
World Boxing has released a pathway for Officials to gain equivalency into the new certification system.
If you are a current “Official” member of Boxing Canada who is currently Level 4 or greater please register your desire to engage with the World Boxing process by following this link. Registration is free. You will need to upload documents showing your participation at international events. The best resource for these is often http://amateur-boxing.strefa.pl/index.html. Please download PDFs or screen shot pages that display your name as an RJ or Official so you can upload them.

R&J CERTIFICATION PATHWAY
World Boxing rules must be applied consistently by all officials at every level. It is essential that Referees and Judges (R&Js) thoroughly read and understand the World Boxing Competition Rules, becoming experts in their application.
As a preliminary step in certifying World Boxing Referees and Judges, there is an opportunity for individuals with proven international experience to become certified without attending a course. Certification at this stage will be based on demonstrated experience and tested knowledge.
Once a team of instructors has been established, World Boxing will begin offering certification courses for national-level R&Js seeking World Boxing certification.
The following information details the pathway on becoming a World Boxing certified R&J.
Certification process:
- Prior to registering individuals, read the certification level and criteria to understand if the R&J that will be registered is eligible.
- NF to use the registration link provided in this communication to register eligible R&Js prior to the deadline date.
- World Boxing will review the candidates within 2 weeks after the registration deadline.
- After the conclusion of the eligibility review, World Boxing will send communication directly to the R&J with either online examination links that are required to complete or a message explaining why they are not eligible.
- If an individual successfully completes the online examination, World Boxing will confirm their certification level.
- Certification is provisional pending background check results.
- Background checks will be implemented for all International and InterContinental R&Js.
Certifications consist of an online exam with two modules: one containing twenty-five (25) questions on World Boxing Competition Rules and another with twenty (20) questions on Sport Integrity.
R&Js must pass the online certification with a score of (80%) or greater in each module to achieve the certification of a World Boxing R&J.
World Boxing R&J Certification Levels and eligibility
This section details the process of certifying current non-World Boxing certified R&Js to
World Boxing certified R&Js which will be based on prior verified experience.
- Continental level
- Must have participated in one (1) to three (3) International tournaments (with at least five (5) NFs involved in each tournament) since 2018
- InterContinental level
- Must have participated a minimum of four (4) International Tournaments since 2018 whereas the following criteria have been met.
- 1 tournament with 20+ NFs participating
- 2 tournaments with a minimum of five (5) NFs participating.
- Must have participated a minimum of four (4) International Tournaments since 2018 whereas the following criteria have been met.
- International Level
- Must have participated in a minimum of four (4) International tournaments since 2018, whereas at least one (1) tournament with 40+ NFs were participating or
- One (1) of the Olympic Continental Qualifiers, World Qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 or Paris 2024 Games.
